Juventus and Real Madrid will renew their rivalry again on Tuesday, as the two sides meet in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.

Having met in the semis in 2014-15, when Juve emerged victorious over two legs, and the final last season, when Real Madrid romped to a 4-1 win, these two grand footballing institutions have become familiar with each other in recent seasons.

Still, it's a contest that catches the eye, as the might of Madrid's attack, led by the red-hot Cristiano Ronaldo, comes up against arguably the finest defence in European football, underpinned by Juventus' iconic goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Here are the key viewing details for arguably the standout quarter-final of the 2017-18 season and a preview of what promises to be a sensational game in Turin.

It's remarkable to think there was some talk earlier in the campaign this might be the end of Ronaldo, as he struggled to find his usual ruthlessness in front of goal.

However, since the turn of the year, the Portuguese has settled back into a typically devastating goalscoring groove, and in the previous round of this competition, he was decisive, netting three goals over the two legs against Paris Saint-Germain.

As noted below, in recent weeks, he's thrust himself into contention to be the top scorer in Spain again, too:

Juventus know all too well what he's capable of, as two goals from Ronaldo in the final last season sent Madrid on their way to more Champions League glory.

Buffon has been full of praise for Ronaldo in the buildup to this tantalising first-leg encounter too, per Goal UK:

Still, despite their recent resurgence, this is a Madrid team that doesn't feel quite as well-oiled as last season, and Juventus will feel they can capitalise on some of the frailties they've showcased throughout the campaign.

That's especially true in defence, where Los Blancos have really toiled. Should Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain show their best form on Tuesday, as they did to propel the Bianconeri past Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16, then they will cause big issues at the back for the defending champions.

As is so often the case with the Italian side in this competition, it's in defence where they've caught the eye, with the performance of Giorgio Chiellini especially memorable in the second leg against Spurs.

Per BT Sport commentator Ian Darke, he and Buffon led a remarkable rearguard action, as their side clung on to a 2-1 advantage against the Premier League outfit:

Finding a way through this incredible Juventus defence is going to be a big challenge for Madrid, making any away goal they can muster here especially vital.

Despite the masses of attacking talent likely to be on the field on Tuesday, this one will surely be a cagey affair to begin with, as neither team will want to give themselves a mountain to climb early on. Madrid, as the away side, are likely to allow Juventus possession and seek to counter through the likes of Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Juventus need to show patience, concentration and composure when they do have the ball, with the likes of Dybala and Miralem Pjanic set to be crucial in unlocking Madrid. They've shown enough this season to suggest they can do just that and take a slender advantage back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
